A contemplation that arose today…

Life can definitely, at times, put us through our paces…I sense that being incarnated on this earth is not the easiest of assignments. And, what we come to work out, to evolve through, can differ thematically for each person. For some, it can be the releasing of long-held prejudices and biases. For others, relationships and concomitant issues. The variety of themes is multitudinous.

And as we proceed in this life, the lessons in store for us become more obvious, if we are alert to them. We might start noticing a certain ambit in which challenges tend to arise.

All this is to say, the dictum, “Know thyself,” applies to both our human and spiritual realities. To recognize and understand our own foibles, our own looping patterns of thought, emotion and behaviors with a compassion and care - not judgement - is part of cleaning up and sweeping out unnecessary debris on the human level.

And then this “Knowing thyself” can substantially assist in leading us to the great self-knowing…The transcendence and constancy of our spiritual self; the self in and beyond all time and space …Who we really are…

This earth life might, at times, put us through our paces. But it is not a meaningless meandering, rather the divine’s plan to bring us back to our essential selves, to go home to ourselves, at last.

It has been the play of that glorious light (which has no opposite) all along.
