America is Back

I woke up this morning with the sense America is back. The people have spoken across the land. This cloud around - a decade in length - of a president who used the highest office in the land for his own selfish and craven purposes has received the message. (And, this, of course, includes continuing to poison our election system with the huge falsehood that the 2020 election was “stolen” during the Biden era.)

That highest office exists to serve the people. And, the people have been treated like a part of his personal empire, pawns on a chess board, to serve his ends, and his ends only. The purely transactional nature of this enterprise, completely devoid of empathy and kindness, has awakened so many to this terrible lack and the need for change.

(There is no demonizing going on here. Just observations.)

Yes, perhaps the pocketbook issues - due to higher gas prices, etc - brought in many a folk to say, in effect, no more. But, I do sense the utter lack of humanity in evidence - such as the ICE brutality and detention centers (And, these are, by no means, the only example)- has been felt. And, this I feel is what really catalyzed the blue tsunami.

I am proud of my country. And this goes way beyond partisanship. The people have spoken and what I am hearing them saying is they want a resumption in our governance of decency, of empathy, of a higher purpose which unites rather than divides.

Thank you, America. It’s been a long slog, this past decade. And, the awakening to the true nature of what motivates this presidency, this administration, has seemed interminably slow at times. But, our democracy held and the people were given their say yesterday.

Yes, I woke up this morning with the wonderful feeling that America is back. (And, believe me, I sense the whole world was watching and most were also celebrating this return.) That the nightmare of division and cruelty is departing. And that a higher vibration of unity and - dare I say it - love; a love that is meant for all, has won the day.

Our democracy held.

The people have spoken.
