This is probably the best poem I have ever written. I was attending elementary school and estimate I was in 4th or 5th grade. The teacher (perhaps a nun. It was a parochial school.) gave us the assignment to simply write a poem. Oddly, it’s untitled. I remember sitting at my little desk and writing away.
The poem ends with, “Aren’t these associations worth living for? Your mind is your valley.”
Years later, I found it folded up some where, and the whole creative moment came back to me...
